Long-Stay Student Visa (VLS-TS) — Most Common
The Visa de Long Séjour valant Titre de Séjour (VLS-TS) is the standard France student visa for programs longer than 90 days. It acts as both a visa and a residence permit — you don't need to apply for a separate carte de séjour after arriving in France.
You must validate this visa online via the ANEF portal within 3 months of arrival. It remains valid for the entire duration of your studies.
Short-Stay Student Visa (Type C) — Less than 90 Days
For language courses, summer schools, or short-term academic programs lasting fewer than 90 days. This is a standard Schengen short-stay visa and does not require Campus France registration.
Not valid for degree programs. Cannot be converted into a long-stay visa from within France.
